Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Swordsman Romantic Story, Ruroken in short, is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Nobuhiro Watsuki. The story begins in 1878, the 11th year of the Meiji era in Japan, and follows a former assassin of the Bakumatsu, known as Hitokiri Battosai. It has been adapted into anime series, live-action films, stage plays, light novels, video games and audio dramas.
